Abu Serga Church: The Church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus, known as Abi Serga Church, was built on the ruins of an ancient Roman fortress. The church is where the holy family stayed and took shelter.

The Ben Ezra Synagogue is one of the oldest Jewish synagogues in Egypt. It is believed to have originally been a Coptic Orthodox church that was sold to a member of the Jewish community in Egypt in 882 AD. It was named after Abraham Ben Ezra, a Jewish scholar and philosopher.
